Who can use DVA-funded podiatry
Veterans and eligible family members who hold a DVA Gold Card are covered for podiatry that's clinically needed. White Card holders may be covered for treatment linked to an accepted condition. If you're not sure which applies to you, call us and we'll help you work it out.
How to get started
- Check your card. You'll need a current DVA Gold Card, or a White Card for an accepted condition.
- Ask your GP for a D904 referral. It's a short form your doctor completes during a normal appointment. Ask for a "D904 referral to podiatry".
- Call us to book. Ring 0493 367 109 once you have your referral and we'll arrange a time to visit.
What's covered at home
- Toenail care, corns and callus
- Diabetes foot checks and ongoing care
- Foot pain and injury management
- Ulcer prevention and wound care
- Circulation and nerve assessments
- Footwear and orthotic advice
Why home visits suit many veterans
Getting to a clinic can mean arranging transport, finding parking and sitting in a waiting room, which is hard work when your feet hurt or your mobility is limited. We bring everything needed for treatment to you. Care happens in your own chair, at a time that suits your routine, and family members or carers are welcome to stay.
How long a referral lasts
Under DVA's treatment cycle, a referral covers up to 12 podiatry sessions or one year, whichever comes first. At the end of each cycle we send your GP a report, and your GP can refer you for another cycle if you still need care. There's no limit on the number of cycles. Read our full guide to D904 referrals.
